No magnet, no extra floor — and a visibly slimmer back

This is the ringless version of the starry rugged shell. A magnetic build has to mould a pocket deep enough to hold an N52 array flat, and that pocket adds thickness to the rear panel whether or not anyone uses a charger. Where the material actually goes

The Pro is the smaller of the two Pro bodies, which puts a premium on not making it bulky. Rather than wrapping the whole rim in the same thickness, the wall steps up at the four corners and above the screen edge — the places that take the load when a phone lands — and stays flatter along the sides where a hand actually grips it. Two layers of different hardness are bonded underneath, so the shell spreads impact rather than passing it straight through to the body.

The starry rugged range exists in two forms with the same colour card: this ringless one and the magnetic one. That is convenient to buy and dangerous to shelve, because the two look identical in a carton and a counter hand will reach for whichever is nearer. Label by build rather than by colour, and keep one display card per build if you supply stands.
