How to Import Phone Cases to Jordan: Customs, Duty & Shipping — 2026 Buyer’s Guide
What Jordan’s border actually charges
Jordan is not a GCC member, so it sets its own tariff — and its tax system trips up buyers who assume Gulf rules apply. Duties are assessed per HS code and generally range from zero to about 30 percent; plastic phone accessories typically land in the 5–15 percent band depending on the exact line, so confirm the classification with your clearing agent before you build the landed-cost sheet. On top of the duty comes Jordan’s general sales tax: 16 percent GST charged on the CIF value plus the duty. Note the naming — Jordan runs GST, not VAT, and the 16 percent applies to the combined base, which makes it slightly heavier than it first looks.
Clearance runs through Jordan Customs on ASYCUDA World and the national single window, with green, orange and red lanes for risk. Every consignee needs a nine-digit national tax number, customs documents are handled in Arabic, and a standard file means commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin. If you want to claim preferential duty under a trade agreement, the certificate of origin must be legalised — but for Chinese-origin goods budget for the standard rates, since the preference agreements that matter cover the US, EU, UK and GAFTA partners. Clean, non-regulated cargo typically clears in two to five business days.
The bill-of-lading rule that catches first-timers
Jordan has one quirk that has no real equivalent in the Gulf: Jordan Customs requires a four-digit HS code against each product line on the bill of lading itself — not at declaration stage, on the transport document. Get it wrong or leave it off and the file bounces: amendment fees, reclassification and days of delay while the vessel keeps clocking demurrage. Settle the classification with your forwarder before the carrier issues the bill of lading.
One more Jordan-specific lever: the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. Goods that stay inside the zone are duty-free and GST zero-rated, and a number of Jordanian distributors warehouse there and clear incrementally as stock moves north to Amman. If your buyer is ASEZA-registered, ask which entity is the importer of record — it changes the whole cost picture.
Where Jordan’s demand is heading
Jordan is a compact market of roughly eleven million people, anchored by Amman, with Zarqa and the Sahab industrial area acting as the wholesale trade corridor and Irbid carrying the north. Retail looks familiar: small, sharp, owner-run mobile shops that restock on instinct, plus a growing online layer. One distributor with a well-placed Amman warehouse can genuinely cover the country, which makes Jordan an efficient Levant entry for a new importer — and far less contested than Dubai’s wholesale scene.
Heat sets the design agenda, exactly as it does across the region. Summer temperatures in the high thirties and cars baked in the sun kill cheap clear TPU within a season, so matte finishes, anti-yellowing blends and reinforced camera corners are the repeat sellers. MagSafe-compatible cases matter for every iPhone 15-or-later owner, and Galaxy A-series keeps steady volume in the value tier. The calendar gives two peaks — Ramadan and Eid drive gift purchases, and the late-summer back-to-school window brings the second wave. Stock that lands four to six weeks before either peak sells at close to full price.
From Aqaba to Amman: freight and payment
Essentially all sea freight enters through Aqaba, Jordan’s only commercial seaport on the Red Sea, and everything else is an inland leg — roughly 300-plus kilometres of trucking north to Amman and Zarqa. Sailings from Chinese ports to Aqaba are frequent, with transit around 25–35 days; air cargo arrives through Queen Alia International near Amman. For samples and urgent top-ups, DHL express from our factory reaches Amman in 2–5 days door to door. For production orders you choose between three Incoterms: DAP (you clear customs), DDP (we deliver duty-paid on a prepayment basis), or FCA/FOB if your own forwarder handles the move.
Payment is friction-free: the Jordanian dinar is pegged to the US dollar and freely convertible, and we work on T/T transfer in US dollars with the balance settled before goods leave the factory. No currency controls, no local-account complications.
Do the transit arithmetic before you promise a launch date: a 3–5 week production window plus 25–35 days at sea plus the Aqaba–Amman trucking leg means an importer targeting the pre-Ramadan shelf should confirm the order about two and a half months ahead.
The sample-first playbook that works in Jordan
The Jordanian buyers who grow fastest all run the same low-cost sequence. Step one: order 1–5 sample pieces free of charge — you pay only the DHL courier fee, and the samples reach Amman in 2–5 days. Step two: put them on a counter next to your current bestsellers and watch which finishes customers actually pick up; in Jordan, matte and leather-texture models usually pull ahead within the first week. Step three: place your first wholesale order at our standard MOQ of 50 pieces per style and colour, mixing models and colours freely across the range.
That first order is deliberately small — it exists to generate real sales data, not to fill a warehouse. Once a style proves itself, repeat orders scale cleanly: our 10,000+ m² facility runs 3–5 week production cycles, operates a quality management system certified to ISO 9001:2015, and backs every shipment with 30-day claims and a 12-month warranty. Jordanian buyers work on exactly the same factory terms as distributors in Sydney, London or Dubai.
Mixing is the quiet advantage. Because the MOQ applies per style and per colour, a 300-piece order can cover six models across five colours — a spread that fits Jordan’s counter-display retail model far better than a pallet of a single design.
